We built a house we would live in ourselves
If you have toured a few residential programs, you have seen the clinic version: fluorescent hallways, staff behind a desk, a schedule taped to the wall. Avelia is a white house on Magnolia Avenue with four bedrooms for adults 55 and older, and support that bends around each resident’s day instead of the other way around.
Patience, consistency, and genuine affection for our residents shape daily life here.
What we stand for
Four values
Dignity
Care starts with a question. What do you want for dinner? When do you like to wake up? Every resident is an adult, and we respect the answers.
Independence
We celebrate every new skill, from frying an egg to catching the bus alone. Residents do what they can for themselves. Staff help with the rest, and never rush.
Belonging
Shared dinners. Game nights. A birthday cake with your name on it.
Joy
Care plans matter, but so does fun. Hobbies, outings, jokes at the dinner table, and the small daily pleasures that make a life feel full.
Five residents.
That number is the whole design. Staff know each person’s routines, humor, goals, and hard days. Every caregiver is trained in medication management, first aid, and person-centered support. And every hire is chosen for warmth first.

Staff turnover. What happens when two housemates clash. What a bad week looks like. Bring the questions you didn’t get to ask on other tours, and we’ll answer them at the kitchen table. If we think another setting would serve your person better, we’ll say that too.
